This Server
This site is hosted on a server I built from old parts I had lying around. It is running FreeBSD with a kernel I originally compiled to run on a 16MB CompactFlash drive. I’ve compiled Apache, MySQL, PHP, and BIND from source for use on this server. Although DNS for johntron.com is hosted by a third-party, this server acts as the primary DNS server inside my LAN for reliability and development reasons. I installed and configured all of this myself for zero dollars and some free time. Someday I’ll write an Instructable about the whole process.
